This Privacy Policy explains what information Yappit ("Yappit", "we", "us", "our") collects when you use yappit.online and our Video Yap, Chat Yap, and Voice Yap services (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

      The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the Service — your Google sign-in details, your gender and country for matching, and your subscription status. We do not record your video or voice calls, and we do not store your chat messages. Content-safety screening of video runs locally in your own browser; frames are never uploaded to us.
    

1. Information We Collect

a. Account information (from Google)

When you sign in with Google, we receive and store your Google account ID, name, email address, and profile picture. We use Google solely for authentication — we do not receive your Google password or access other Google data.

b. Profile information you provide

During setup we ask for your gender and country. These are used for matchmaking (including tier-based preference matching) and to operate the Service.

c. Subscription and payment information

If you subscribe to a paid tier, payment is processed by Stripe. We store your subscription status and tier (Free, Pro, or Elite) linked to your account. We never receive or store your full card number — that is handled entirely by Stripe under its own privacy policy.

d. Temporary matchmaking data

While you are waiting for a match, we hold a short-lived record in memory (your connection ID, gender, tier, country, and email) to pair you with another user. This record is deleted when you are matched or disconnect. It is operational data, not a stored profile of your activity.

e. Technical and log data

Our servers keep standard operational logs (such as connection events and connection identifiers) to run and secure the Service. These logs do not contain the content of your conversations.

2. What We Deliberately Do NOT Collect or Store

Chat messages: text messages in Chat Yap are relayed between you and your match in real time and are not written to any database or log.
Video and voice calls: calls are transmitted peer-to-peer between participants where technically possible. Our servers help set up the connection but do not record, store, or monitor the audio/video content of your calls.
Moderation frames: automated content-safety screening of video runs locally in your browser (on your device). Sampled frames are analyzed on-device and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.

3. How We Use Your Information

To authenticate you and operate your account;
To match you with other users, including gender- and tier-based matching for paid tiers;
To process subscriptions and payments (via Stripe);
To display limited information to your match (such as your subscription tier badge during a session);
To enforce our Terms of Service, keep the Service safe, and prevent abuse;
To respond to support requests;
To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. What Other Users See

Conversations on Yappit are anonymous by default. Your match does not see your name, email, or profile picture — they see your subscription tier badge (e.g., Pro) where applicable. Anything you choose to reveal about yourself during a conversation (your face, voice, name, or any other detail) is shared at your own discretion and risk.

5. Sharing of Information

Recipient	What / Why

Stripe	Payment processing and subscription billing.
Infrastructure providers	Hosting and operating the Service (servers, databases). They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Legal / safety	We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, or the Service.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

We use a session cookie during Google sign-in to complete authentication, and we store a session token in your browser's local storage to keep you signed in. We also use local storage for limited on-device safety and preference state. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Data Retention

Account data (Google ID, name, email, picture, gender, country, subscription status) is retained while your account is active.
Matchmaking data is transient and deleted when you are matched or disconnect.
Conversation content is never stored, so there is nothing to retain or delete.
Operational logs are retained for a limited period for security and debugging, then rotated out.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live — including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) and, for users in the EEA/UK, the GDPR — you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Access / correction: your core profile data is visible in the Service; contact us for anything else.
Deletion: to delete your account and associated personal data, email support@yappit.online from your registered email address. We will action verified requests within a reasonable time, subject to any data we are legally required to retain.
Payments: you can manage or cancel your subscription any time via the billing portal in Settings.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/WSS), signed session tokens, and access controls on our infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, however, and you use the Service at your own risk. Protect your Google account with a strong password and two-factor authentication.

10. Children

Yappit is strictly for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will terminate the account and delete associated personal data. If you believe a minor is using the Service, please report it to support@yappit.online.

11. International Users

The Service is operated from India and your information may be processed and stored in India or in other countries where our infrastructure providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to this processing and transfer.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and may provide additional notice on the Service. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
